2025-05-15

On April 20th, Shanghai Qi Zhi Institute for Advanced Study (SIAS) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The agreement was signed by Academician Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, the director of SIAS and a Turing Award laureate, and President Ding Kuiling of SJTU. Representatives from the Shanghai Municipal Committee of Science and Technology, the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, and the Xuhui District Government attended and witnessed the signing ceremony.

Both parties, adhering to the principles of "complementary strengths, resource sharing, strategic coordination, and common development," have set two strategic goals: to establish a globally renowned first-class artificial intelligence research institute and to build a world-class university with Chinese characteristics. Building on their solid foundation of previous strategic cooperation, they will further focus on national missions and regional development, benchmark against domestic and international academic frontiers, and deepen strategic coordination. They will conduct more in-depth cooperation in multiple dimensions, including scientific research, talent cultivation, and education, to jointly promote breakthroughs in basic research, core technology development, and high-end talent training, and to build a core strategic scientific and technological force in the field of artificial intelligence in China.
