Shanghai Qi Zhi Institute held the first 2023 WAIC General Artificial Intelligence Forum

2023-08-01

At 9: 00 a.m. on July 7th, Shanghai Qi Zhi Institute will hold a theme forum on AGI on the third floor of MGM Shanghai West Bund on the west coast of Xuhui District, when many scholars will give special reports.

Recently, General Artificial Intelligence (AGI), represented by ChatGPT, has made a great breakthrough, and its powerful language understanding and dialogue ability is shocking. In the future, AGI should also have flexible limbs and bodies and keen and flexible senses, so as to have the ability to interact with the world deeper. In order to achieve the above goals, we not only need a language pre-training model, but also need to give it a body and the ability to perceive and act.

This year, Shanghai Qi Zhi Institute hosted the theme forum of WAIC World Artificial Intelligence Conference for the first time, "Embodied AGI", to discuss how to define and realize the truly universal artificial intelligence that can go deep into human life. The theme forum of universal artificial intelligence with body is guided by the  World Artificial Intelligence Conference Committee office, Shanghai Science and Technology Commission and Shanghai Xuhui District People's Government, and sponsored by Shanghai Zhizhi Research Institute. Shanghai Qi Zhi Institute, as a new research and development institution in Shanghai, was founded in 2020 by Academician Yao Qizhi, winner of Turing Prize. With the mission of breaking through the basic research of artificial intelligence and leading the cross-development of artificial intelligence in the world, the Institute focuses on the core directions of artificial intelligence, modern cryptography, high-performance computing systems, quantum computing, quantum artificial intelligence and biological intelligence. This forum invited a number of big coffee scholars in the fields of computer science and artificial intelligence at home and abroad to give special reports.

This forum also invited more than ten young scientists, who will also share a large number of internationally influential scientific research achievements.

At the same time, this forum will also invite outstanding scholars at home and abroad to give speeches around three topics. Behavior and decision-making: This paper discusses how to add physical entities and their hands and feet to AGI, and make it act in the real world and interact with people. Specific speeches include reinforcement learning, human-computer interaction, robotics, humanoid robots and so on. Perception and cognition: this paper discusses how to add senses such as eyes and ears to AGI, so that it can understand perception and understand the colorful real physical world. The specific contents of the speech include multimodal perceptual learning, scene understanding and interaction, etc.

Theoretical and computational support: To explore how to provide theoretical support and computational support for AGI. The specific contents of the speech include the basic theory of pre-training model, causal inference, data privacy and computing system.

We will present the results of Embodied AGI related fields to the audience in the form of physical demonstration and poster explanation, so that everyone can understand the research progress and current situation in related fields.

In addition, students from Tsinghua "Yao Ban" and Shanghai Jiaotong University will also have scientific research discussions and interactive exchanges at the forum.
