On the afternoon of November 21st, John Hopcroft, director of the John Hopcroft Computer Science Center of Shanghai Jiaotong University, led a delegation to visit Shanghai Zhizhi Research Institute to learn about its overall development and scientific research progress.

PI Yu of our institute introduced the general situation and development plan of the institute since its establishment in 2020 to Director John Hopcroft and his party, and showed the research progress made by the institute in artificial intelligence, modern cryptography, high-performance computing, quantum computing and quantum artificial intelligence, physical devices and cross-fields.

Subsequently, Director John Hopcroft and his party also visited the laboratory and research office of the Institute, and had a cordial interactive exchange with the researchers of the Institute on the direction of the subject.

John Hopcroft is a world-renowned master of computer algorithm, one of the first computer scientists in the world, winner of Turing Award (1986), academician of American Academy of Sciences, Academy of Engineering, Academy of Arts and Sciences, foreign academician of China Academy of Sciences, and winner of China Government Friendship Award. At the same time, he is also an outstanding computer science educator, who has made great contributions to the creation of a computer science talent education model.
